Gordon Pollard Laughlin, 78 of Bedford, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at Bedford County Nursing Home. He was born on Friday, April 22, 1932 in Bedford Co., a son of the late Frank E. Laughlin and Mary Gardner Laughlin. He was a retired supervisor at the Lane Company and was a member of member of B. P. O. E. Elks Lodge # 2844 and Ephesus United Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife, Joyce Patterson Laughlin; a daughter, Cindy L. Wooldridge & her husband, Doug of Huddleston; a son, Gregory K. Laughlin & his wife, Mary Lou of Bedford; five grandchildren, Justin Allen Morgan, Chelsea Raye Laughlin, Jason W. Hogan, Jennifer McCormick, Heather Woolridge; three sisters, Mildred L. Witt, Gloria L. Key, both of Bedford, Glenna L. Caldwell of Roanoke; a special niece, Kathy Pinson of Roanoke. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Ephesus United Methodist Church, c/o Brenda Koop, 4585 Falling Creek Road, Bedford, VA 24253. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 2 PM at Ephesus United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Casey and Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday after 1 PM and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
