Marvin Grey Wheat, 88 of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at his residence at the Elks National Home, English Meadows Campus.  He was born on Sunday, August 11, 1929  in Bedford County, a son of the late Quinley Wheat and Gertrude Kennedy Wheat.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joan Clay Grant Wheat.  

He was a retired welder with Caldwell Machine Company, was a member of Otterville United Methodist Church and a member of Bedford Moose Lodge #1897 and B. P. O. E. Elks # 321.  

He is survived by his step-son, Larry Grant & wife, Esther, Terry Grant; four step-granddaughters, one step-grandson and his nephew, Andrew Key & wife, Jamie.  

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1 until 2 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM in Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating.  Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
