I was Mrs. Saunders student and Sr. Class President. Ultimately, I earned a BA in Government at Wm & Mary and a law degree thereafter. I worked in state government for 4 years and the federal government for more than twenty. I think my teacher certainly had a positive influence on me. She was beloved by the Class of 1980. I hope our school is blessed with as educator today as fine as the one who taught us.

When I think of some of my favorite teachers....Mrs. Saunders is on the list!! She was a wonderful teacher that instilled a lot of life lessons in all her students. She was stern and tough and expected your full attention in her class, but she was also kind and caring and loved all of her students. If she was decked out in red, you knew it was a big test. My favorite story I have told my own children is how she would give a pop quiz. When questioned about not having red on...she would lift the corner of her dress and show us the lacy bottom of a red slip! Absolutely loved her!

A truly remarkable teacher who gave every student who entered her classroom the opportunity to learn how our nation works and our vital role in our nation. I learned so much from her and respected her beyond measure. I will be grateful to her all of my days. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
