Ella Bernice Adams, 94 of Fairfax and formerly of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Sunrise - Fair Oaks. She was born on Friday, December 1, 1916 in Bedford Co., a daughter of the late Alexander Mortimer Carter and Ella Burnett Carter. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Malcolm Vaughn and Wyatt Gordon Adams; a son, Roy Malcolm Vaughn; three sisters, Elizabeth Huddleston, Eva Pierce and Nora Blackstone; two brothers, Boyce Carter and Dick Carter. She was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. Surviving is her son, Curtis Lynwood Vaughn & wife, Beverly of Herndon; three grandchildren, Ryan Vaughn of Newport News, Kimberly (Neil) Williams of Fairfax, Amanda Vaughn of Reston; a sister, Doris Krause Reynolds of Bedford; a brother, Jack Carter of Bedford. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Carilion Hospice of Bedford, P. O. Box 688, Bedford, Va 24523 or Capital Hospice, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 6 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
