Earnest Lee Ellis, 74 of Moneta, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He was born on November 7, 1943 in Bedford County, a son of the late Randolph Ellis & Christine Bobbitt Ellis.   

He was retired from United Parcel Service after twenty-five years as a feeder driver.  His passion was working on the family farm where he proudly drove his John Deere tractor.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Hawkins Ellis; his daughter, Sharri E. Love & husband, Ricky of Collinsville; his son, Randy Lee Ellis & wife, Tammy of Moneta; his grandchildren, Brian Lee Ellis & wife, Taylor, Allison Paige Love, Scott Edward Ellis & girlfriend, Grace Overstreet; his brother, Gerald Ellis of Moneta; his sisters, Betty Leonard of Vinton, Dianne Witt of Bedford & Judy Catron & husband, Larry of Vinton.  

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
