Obituary of John Allen Abbott

John Allen Abbott, 93 of Bedford, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on Friday, April 10, 1925  in Bedford County, a son of the late Robert Lee Abbott  and Bertha May Wilson Abbott.  He was also preceded in death by his son, James Allen Abbott, Jr.  

He was retired from Piedmont Label, was a member & deacon at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. 

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Wilson Abbott; his daughter, Judy A. Tolley of Bedford; his grandchildren, Benjamin Jenkins (Heather), Neil Abbott (Debra), Erica Whorley (Jonathan), Missy Welch (Tyler) as well as Nine Great Grandchildren.  

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with Rev. John Boyles and Rev. Julie Flores officiating.  Interment, with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call Sunday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 2 until 4 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
