He was my father’s friend, my friend, and friend to all who knew him. Truly a good man and public servant; he was the mayor of Moneta. We will miss him.

I enjoyed working with Mr. Woodford at Oakwood Manor. He was a fine man and he will live on through the values that he instilled in his family and because of his work in the Bedford community. My sympathy to you all.

Pud says: Calvin and I were gunners on the USS Rocky Mount in WWII. He was the gun pointer and I was the loader. For years after the war, Maxine and I looked all over for Calvin but couldn't find him. Then one night, around 11, I got a phone call and it was Calvin. One of his daughters had found me on the computer. He asked if I remembered him, and of course I did! And we've been talking on the phone ever since. I'm sorry to hear he's gone.

My prayers to the entire family. I met Calvin as a toddler traveling with my grandmother to purchase eggs from the Woodfords and have been a customer for close to 40 years. Calvin was always helpful and humble...qualities often lacking in our society today.

I had the honor of knowing this good man through our time together as members of Bedford Lodge No. 244. As I was Secretary and he was the Treasurer we conducted a lot of business at Calvin's home. I will always fondly recall the many discussions we had about his time in service and that both he and I were VA Tech alumni. All of his Masonic Brothers will miss him terribly but in our hearts we know that we will meet again.

Uncle Calvin, you are loved by so many and you will be missed by so many. Your love for your family, church, and community speaks volumes about the man you were. The positive influence you had on me and so many others was tremendous, the world has lost a true gentleman. You will always live in my heart, we will always miss you. The Woodford family will never be the same without you. I can hear your lovely voice now singing with the angels, Your loving niece, Marcia
