Obituary of Irma Marie Page Eckart

Irma Marie “Dinksey” Page Eckart, 78, of Bedford, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Cardinal Senior Livingafter a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.She was born August 29, 1940 in Appomattox, VA, a daughter of the late Irma May Stanley Page and Curtis James Page.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Morrison Williams.

Marie was a member of Bedford Christian Church and a retiree of the office of Dr. Anthony Bailey, DDS.  She loved reading, dancing, collecting antiques, travelling, and sports.  Marie was most passionate about her family.  Weekends were meant for packing up for either a cruise, bus trip, or going to watch her grandchildren play ball.  

Marie is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Jerry Ray Eckart; three children, Stephen Eckart and his wife, Jody of Bedford, Angie Woodson and her husband, Dwayne of Amherst, and Chad Eckart and his wife, Kim of Bedford; five grandchildren, Holly Eckart, Hunter Eckart, Justin Woodson, Caleb Eckart, and Jacob Eckart; a sister, Betty George and her husband, Kenneth; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bobbie Hargrove and Dianne Nichols.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bedford Christian Church Building Fund, 1928 Moneta Rd., Bedford, VA 24523 orCentra Bedford Hospice, 1621 Whitfield Dr., Bedford, VA 24523.

The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 PM with Dr. David Walton and Rev.
