Obituary of Nelson Owen Martin

Nelson Owen Martin, 73 of  Bedford, VA passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at  Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born on Saturday, August 18, 1945  in Lynchburg, VA, a son of the late Clay O. Martin and Elizabeth Frances Bowyer Martin. 

He retired from Rubatex and served in the US Navy.  

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Maxfield Martin of Bedford; a daughter, Teresa Diane Martin of Front Royal; a sister, Shelby Morris of Roanoke; step daughter, Deborah Saunders of Thaxton; step grandson, Dewayne Ruff and wife, Kerri of Bedford;  two step great grandchildren, Layla Ruff,  Aiden Ruff.  

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00 am at Virginia Memorial Park with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating.   There will be no visitation.  Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
