To the Martin family,
Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. Joshua was to young to leave this earth. In the Bible the man Job once asked God "If a man dies, can he live again"?. Then Job went on to say, "I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes" Job 14:14-15. Job knew that one day God will call and those who have fallen asleep in death will answer him. God longs to bring back those who have fallen asleep in death. A study of the Bible enables us to understand why death is like a sleep, why death afflicts mankind, and how this enemy will finally be defeated. 1Corinthians 15:26 says "And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing". Have hope that you will see Joshua again. My prayers are with your family.

Josh,
I’m overcome with sadness, yet flooded with the best memories of you and our friends. Even as time and miles made keeping in touch more difficult, you always found me.
Standing in line at Scaremare was more fun with you because the time flew by quickly with us laughing at your humor. Anywhere we went, everyone knew who you were. You had such breadth in your taste for music. I remember trips to Walmart and you convincing me to buy you Alabama’s Greatest Hits album, then regretting it as you sang it at the top of your lungs all the way home. Hank Williams Jr. is played all over my town and I still think of you and laugh when I hear it because you sang your anthem “A Country Boy Can Survive” so convincingly. You loved giving me a hard time for being a Yankee and I loved giving you a hard time by reminding you about the all the American Muscle in my garages...as you cranked on your Cobra and told me it was faster than my GT, and all about your recommendations on how to make it faster. You lived for a thorough thrill, to chase and be chased, and to just let your inner B.A. be known. I loved watching “Gone in 60 Seconds” with you and how you’d rewind it to the part with Atlee’s character. You treated me like one of the guys and today, friends laugh and reminisce with me about all your antics with Corey, McKinley, and Mike. I have so many memories of playing pool with Sarah in your basement hangout or mine, homecoming with you and Emily and Steven, long bus rides to basketball games, and going to your church cookouts. You could make a joke out of anything. Your talent and dream career was so impressive, earning you recognition and admiration from so many. All of us have countless reminders of who you were and why we’ll always love and remember you.
And then one day
A magic day he passed my way
And while we spoke of many things,
fools and kings
This he said to me
“The greatest thing

You were my first friend. You were the first to invite me over to stay the weekends. Faye and Barry would take us to varsity football games. You would pick me up for school. You would take anywhere you went. All my childhood memories are filled with us! Staying up late, being on the AOL, or watching anything on tv just to be stay up. Sports, school, and girls and anything we could stay up talking about! Back then I used think we are going to grow up and still be talking about the same stuff! But I never told you or Faye or Barry but I loved coming to your house on the weekends because your parents treated me like I was one of theirs. It felt like home.
I remember you driving the green truck to school and picking me up and us stopping for biscuits at Texaco! I remember your favorite basketball move on the court, the rocker step to the left and then go right. You got me to listen to different music ( that I still listen to now). The stories and memories will never fade, I can’t believe you gone but you will never be forgotten. I’ll see you soon one day brother love you.

This was such sad news this morning. Josh was one of the first kids I remember meeting in 4th grade when I moved to VA. We remained friends through school, and kept in touch thanks to social media. He had his struggles but he also had a big heart.... Sad that his heart is gone so soon. But hopefully he is at peace now.
