Obituary of Carlton Edward Poindexter

Carlton Edward Poindexter, 73, of Bedford, VA, departed this world on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.  Carlton was born on Friday, December 29, 1943 in Franklin County, VA.  Carlton joined Bold Branch Baptist Church at an early age.  He enlisted into the Navy on August 30, 1963 and served until January 29, 1973.  It was during this time that he met his life partner and friend Gladys Poindexter.  Carlton was a self-employed mechanic.  He enjoyed working on cars, racing and watching NASCAR.  He also liked watching football, comedies, and western movies.

 

Carlton was preceded in death by his six brothers, Troy Gill, Dennis Poindexter, Jimmy Poindexter, Elton Poindexter, Lewis Poindexter, Donald Poindexter, and two sisters, Reva P. Hughes, and Nannie P. Richie-Akyea.  He is survived by his life partner Gladys Poindexter, daughter, Carla Denise Poindexter-Pryor, three brothers, Daniel Poindexter, Willie Poindexter, and Zebedee Poindexter, and two sisters, Clessie (Leroy) Turner, and Elaine Cooley, including a host of grand children, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and deep gratitude for all expressions of sympathy and acts of kindness shown during this time of bereavement.
