Marie Thompson Hackworth, 74 of Altavista, VA passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born on Monday, April 20, 1936 in Scott County, VA, a daughter of the late Henry Thompson and Lillie Tomlinson Thompson Hackworth. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert Allen Thompson, Thomas W. Hackworth, Jr.; two brothers, James W. Thompson, Glen Thompson and five sisters, Maggie Allen, Bessie Collins, Janet Thompson, Isabel Thompson and Elizabeth Thompson. She was a laboratory tech. at B. G. F Industries and was a member of First Baptist Church of Kingsport, TN. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Thomas William Hackworth and a daughter, Delores M. Hackworth of Altavista. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Leesville United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston
