Obituary of John Wesley Parker

John Wesley Parker, 87 of Evington, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Virginia Veterans Care Center.  He was born on Monday, February 16, 1931 in Campbell County, a son of the late John Lee Parker  and Beatrice Faye Pribble Parker. 

He was a retired mechanic, was a member of  Salem United Methodist Church and  U. S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.  

He is survived by his son, Kevin D. Parker of Evington; his daughter, Rev. Tammy Parker Franklin & husband, John of Patrick County; grandsons, Matthew D. Boyce & wife, Mary, Eric T. Boyce; great grandson, Brian Matthew Boyce; a sister, Sylvia Parker Kidd of Evington; brother, Steven D. Parker & wife, Sandra of Evington. 

The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Salem United Methodist Church or Campbell County Rescue Squad.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Schooler officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.  Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
