Obituary of Charles Vernon Thomas
Charles Vernon “Chuck” Thomas, 65 of Arlington and formerly of Bedford County, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at George Washington Hospital, Washington, DC.
He was born June 28, 1953 in Bedford County, a son of the late Samuel H. Thomas and Hilda Revere Thomas.
Chuck graduated from Liberty High School in 1971 and then Hampton University. He retired from the U. S. Air Force in 1993 after a twenty year career and served during Desert Storm. He was an aircraft mechanic KC-135 – B52 Buff and B1 bomber. He was then employed by the City of Bedford Public Works and Newport News Public Works, and Arlington County as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Merly Dimalanta Thomas; his son, Joseph Thomas; daughter, Crizel Dimalanta; his twin brother, Gene R. Thomas; brother, Roy L. Thomas & wife, Gale; sister, Carol L. Thomas; niece, Erin T. Samsell & husband, Brian as well as numerous cousins and many friends.
The family would like to thank all of Chuck’s relatives and friends for the love, cards, letters and above all, the prayers during his illness & passing.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2 PM on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Nicopolis United Methodist Church and a memorial service will follow at 3 PM with Pastor Danny Holdren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
