Obituary of Homer Arthur Carter

Homer Arthur Carter, 86 of Thaxton passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He was born on January 3, 1933 in Bedford County, a son of the late Andrew Jackson Carter and Emma Preston Dooley Carter.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd Jackson Carter, George Elton Carter and his sisters, Ruby Orange, Lura Robertson, Nellie Overstreet, Thelma Carter, Ida Carter, Mabel Spence & Edna Welch.  

He is survived by a sister, Arlene Hartberger of Salem as well as many nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 28, 2019  at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Eric Pennington officiating.  Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 until 5 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
