Irma Roberts Owens, 78 of Bedford, VA passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Thursday, September 8, 1932 in West Virginia, a daughter of the late James Harvey Roberts and Sarah Kennedy Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Andie Hallin Owens and a grandson, Joseph Wayne Owens. She was a charter member of the Church of the Great Shepherd as well as its oldest living member. Surviving are her sons, Kenneth Owens & wife, Valarie, Billie Owens & fiance, Wanda, all of Bedford; her daughter, Jannie Tolley & husband, Don of Bedford; a brother, James Roberts of Bedford; nine grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Church of the Great Shepherd with Pastor Kenneth Lafon officiating. Interment will follow in Chruch Cemetery. Friends may call Monday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
