Obituary of Alfred Nathaniel Newman

Alfred Newman, 87 of  Bedford passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at his residence.  He was born on Wednesday, October 7, 1931  in Roanoke, VA, a son of the late James Benjamin Newman and Laura Chambers Newman.  He was a Salesman at Fisher Auto Parts and a member of  Wilson's United Methodist Church .  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  

He is survived by his wife, Nancy K. Newman, of Bedford; step-sons, Robert Gentry & wife, Gwen of Lynchburg, Wayne Irby & wife, Marietta of Appomattox, Jerry  Irby & wife, Melissa of Finley, OH; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
  
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11:00 am at Fort Hill Memorial Park  with Rev. Russ Alden & Rev. Jean Horne officiating.   The family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2019, from 5:00 - 6:30 pm at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
