Louise Hawkins Martin, 90 of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on Friday, August 30, 1920 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late John Flemming Hawkins and Emma Wooldridge Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by husband, Winfread Morris Martin, two brothers, Thomas Hawkins & Leroy David Hawkins, a sister, Anne Bailes and a nephew, John Foster. She was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church. Surviving is her son, Frank M. Leftwich & wife, Patsy of Lynchburg; a niece, Loretta Hawkins Foster, a nephew, Ronald Hawkins & wife, Phyllis. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider West Lynchburg Baptist Church, 3031 Memorial Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11 AM with Dr. Robert Putt officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
