Mildred McGhee Sublett, 84 of Bedford, passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home. She was born on Sunday, January 16, 1927 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Marvin P. McGhee and Hesba Fariss McGhee. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Aileen Holland and Ruth Wright amd three brothers, Henry, Earl & Elton McGhee. She was a retired employee of Rubatex Corporation and was a member of Mentow Baptist Church. Surviving is her husband of sixty-five years, Elton Byrd Sublett; a son, Donald Byrd Sublett & wife, Connie of Bedford; a daughter, Debra Graham & husband, David of Daleville, three Granddaughters, Angela Perry & husband, Dean, Chere Witt & husband, Randy, Kimberly French & husband, Jeff; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas & Lexie Perry, Chelsey & Dustin Nichols and Blake French. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Mentow Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Soult officiating. Interment will follow in Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 8 from 6 utnil 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
