Bevie Smith Johnson, 89 of Bedford, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020. She was born on Monday, June 23, 1930 in Bedford, a daughter of the late James Rufus Early Smith and Christine Mayhew Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Penn Johnson; sisters, Jeanette Overstreet and Trudy Maxfield; a granddaughter & her husband, Rachael & Aaron Horton. She was a retired Clerk at Rubatex Corporation of Bedford. She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Johnson, Ivy Williamson & husband, George; sons, Wendell Kenneth Johnson & wife, Kathie, Donald Ray Johnson, Ritchie Lynn Johnson & wife, Phyllis; sisters, Martha Smith, Iris Blankenship, Ann Bruner, Marilyn Overstreet, Fran Moore, Patsy Maxfield, Sybil Wray; a brother, James W. Smith; a grandson, David W. Robertson; a granddaughter, Heather Quintero & husband, Josh; great grandchildren, Christine Robertson, Aaron Robertson, Jude Quintero & wife, Ariadne; Gabriel Quintero, Elias Quintero, Zoe Weddle and Tim Weddle. A Graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Virginia Memorial Park with Rev. Vernon DeLong officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, March 13, 2020, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
