Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Salley Murphy, 79 of Moneta, VA passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 in Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Wednesday, March 12, 1930 in Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late William J. Salley and Charlotte Korte Salley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James R. Murphy; a daughter, Salley M. Graff, an infant daughter, a granddaughter, Shannon Kathleen Murphy; two brothers, Willard J. Salley and James P. Salley; a brother-in-law, Martin Green, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Green. She was a retired registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Clemens, MI and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, where she was active in many church groups. Surviving are her sons, Patrick J. Murphy of Huddleston, VA; James W. Murphy of Moneta, VA; her grandchildren, Timothy M. Dellis & wife, Ashley; Beth M. Bays & husband, Nolan, Patricia A. Murphy, all of Huddleston, VA; her great-grandchildren, Emma Jo Bays, Walker Dellis, Jack Dellis, a sister-in-law, Louise Salley of Huddleston, VA; as well as many nieces & nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Resurrection Catholic Church Cemetery Fund, 15353 Moneta Road, Moneta, VA 24121 or the charity of your choice. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 10 AM at Resurredcrtion Catholic Church with Father Salvador Anonuevo as the celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday beginning at 9 AM.
