In October 2018 Kristy, Rosa, Rick and I joined Spring Valley Farm on a trip to Myrtle Beach for the 37th Annual American Heart Association Beach Ride. For those of you that don't know it is a fundraiser for the AHA where you take your horse and ride 20 miles on the beach. It was the best time! One night we ate sandwiches by the campfire. One night we went to Captain George's and ate. No matter what we did, we had a blast. For Kristy, this trip was all about Rosa having a good time so she didn't ride. While we were all out riding and having a good time during the day, Kristy was back at camp, mucking poop, filling water buckets, throwing fresh hay, and basically working her butt off taking care of everybody's horses, not just Rosa's. Anybody that knows Kristy knows that she's always been an animal lover. (I vaguely remember a pig and I think a lamb in Maurice and Dianne's basement during her youth. lol) That trip Kristy and Rosa were staying in a tent on an air mattress to be near the horses at night. One night their air mattress got a hole and they woke up flat on the ground. One morning we walked over and they were wet from an overnight shower, but Kristy never complained. She made the most of that trip. It's funny how things work out because Ronnie was supposed to be on that trip but he had broke his hand and so Kristy went. I am so grateful for those memories and that special time we all shared together. Kristy and I were much closer after that trip and stayed in pretty close contact after that. I am thankful that she is not suffering anymore but I will miss her. This is not good-bye, but until we meet again in Heaven.
