Bessie Persinger Ross, 80 of Moneta, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 at her residence. She was born on Friday, August 8, 1930 in Covington, a daughter of the late Charles Persinger and Nellie Smith Persinger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Ross, Sr., a son, Roger Jamison, five brothers, Charles, Jr. & wife, Helen; Albert, Earl, Douglas and Wilbur Persinger. Surviving are her sons, Lee Roy Ross, Jr., Dennis Ross, Bob Ross, Richard Ross; a daughter, Mary Mills & husband, Tim; a daughter-in-law, Lori Jamison; a sister, Edith Lacks; two aunts, Carmen Smith, Patty Thompson; four sisters-in-law, Sandra Persinger, Nancy Persinger, Carolyn Ross, Sue Persinger; two brothers-in-law, Donald Ross, Charles Ross, eight grandchildren as well as numerous nieces & nephews. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, P. O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Dwayne Tyree officiating. Interment will follow in Quaker Baptist Church Cemetery . The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
