Vernon Elwood Stinnette, 81 of Bedford, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Carriage Hill Retirement Home. He was born on Friday, January 10, 1930 in Campbell Co., a son of the late Harry D. Stinnette and Daisy Bolsley Stinnette. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Wilson Stinnette, his son-in-law, Timothy L. Witt as well as three brothers, Wilma, Jimmy & Ernie Stinnette, and two sisters, Nanny Christopher, Ollie McAllister. He was a retired insurance salesman with Life of Georgia. Surviving is his daughter, Vickie S. Witt of Bedford; a son, Don W. Stinnette & wife, Jennifer of Bedford; three grandchildren, Jody Mayhew & wife, Melissa, Janelle A. Mayhew & Reagan A. Stinnette; three great-grandchildren, Michael W. Amos, Madison W. Amos and Julianna K. Mayhew; two sisters, Elsie Allen of Williamsburg, Viola Slachta of Willow Grove, PA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Rock Pike Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Lyons officiating. Interment will be private. There is no visitaiton at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
