Obituary of Willard Earl Mattox

Willard Earl Mattox, 73, of Lynch Station, died Sept. 6, 2020, at his home. He was the husband and companion of Ellen Sue Sheetz for 54 years. He was born August 2, 1947, in Campbell County, a son of the late Douglas Warren Mattox and Grace Lee Worley Mattox. He was retired from Southern Management Corporation where he dedicated 26 years of service. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and his family. He is survived by three children, Kathryn Mattox, Kenneth Mattox, Kelli Mattox and four siblings; Frank Mattox and his wife Lucinda, Lillian Williamson, Donald Mattox and his wife Louise, Lois Money; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by eight brothers, Warren, Leo, Wilbur, Paul, Howard, Carlton, James, and Wayne Mattox; and six sisters, Beatrice Craddock, Kathleen Quinn, Rachel Mattox, Jean Goad, Nellie Brooks, and infant sister Mattox. The family would like to thank Centra Hospice for the compassionate care they have provided. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston and a funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the chapel with Rev. Scott Doran officiating. Interment will follow in Leesville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
