Calvin Ellis Obituary

Calvin Coolidge Ellis, 85 of Moneta, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born on Monday, October 5, 1925 in Bedford County, a son of the late John Hubert Ellis and Annie Belle Morgan Ellis. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Ellis, Henry Ellis, Gordon Ellis, Randolph Ellis, Rudolph Ellis, Gilbert Ellis and a sister, Cathleen (Kitty) Ellis. He was a retired fabricator at Rubatex and a member of Bethleham United Methodist Church. He was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Mae Harris Ellis of Moneta; a son, Doug Ellis & friend Elizabeth Rigney; three sisters, Mac Martin, Marie Black Welder & husband Jim, Vangie Cooper & husband Gerald; two brothers William Ellis and Darnell Ellis & wife Mary; a special niece, Joyce Walker and a special nephew, Jason Johnson. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Bethleham U.M. Church Building Fund, PO Box 458, Moneta, VA 24121. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. David W. Lord and Rev. Melvin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, March 23, from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
