Henry Walter "Pete" West, 98 of Huddleston, VA passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Tuesday, November 7, 1911 in Bedford Co., a son of the late James Allen West and Hattie Bertha Cundiff West. He was a retired machinist at Burlington Industries and was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife, Bevie Lee Wilkes West; a sister, Lois W. Morgan of Huddleston, his sisters-in-law, Frances Mitchell, Iris West, Shirley Quarles, Barbara Witt, all of Roanoke; Lucille Creasey, Norma A. West, both of Huddleston; Eveline Hamblett of Bedford; brother-in-law, J. D. Wilkes of Lynchburg, a special nephew, Dennis West of Huddleston as well as numerous other nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Bayse officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
