Obituary of Beatrice Cheek Dawson

Beatrice Cheek Dawson, 90 of Huddleston, went to her eternal home on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Runk & Pratt at Smith Mountain Lake in Hardy. She was born January 20, 1930 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Luther C. Cheek and Bertha Mae Hodges Cheek. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lawrence Daniel Dawson, her brothers, Milton Cheek & wife, Lillian, Myrcer Cheek & wife, Mary; her grandson, Timothy Coins & her great grandson, J. J. Scott. She is survived by her children, Larry Dawson & wife, Gail, Sharon Foutz & husband, Lance all of Huddleston; DeLois Tweedy & husband, John of Moneta; Starr Dawson of Williamsburg; sixteen grandchildren, Chris Coins (Jeanette), Alison Harris (Danny), Angie Atnip (Heath), Bryan Dawson (Chelsea), Brandon Byrd (Victoria), Amber Foster, Joshua Scott, Heather Pruitt (Dustin), David Moff, Cara Moff, Kane Foutz (Holly), Nathan Foutz (Tammy), Jesse Foutz (Alyssa) Sara Harlor (Brian), Tonya Crockett, Jeremy Tweedy; twenty-six great grandchildren, Lee & Gavin Dawson, Ayla & Grayson Atnip, Josh Coins (Ashley), Jamie & Jacob Scott, DeAnna, DeLaney, Alyssa & Aiden Harris, Wyatt, Parker & Tenslee Byrd, Zachery Jones, Isaac Pruitt, Brooklyn Harlor, Gavin Granger, Maddie, Taylor, Olivia & Grayson Foutz, Corey & Tristan Crockett, Logan and John Tweedy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3831 Old Forest Road, Suite 7, Lynchburg, VA 24504. Due to COVID-19 concerns, all services are private at this time, however, there will be a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
