Carole Eldridge Holdren, 73 of Bedford, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born April 12, 1947 in Claiborne County, Tennessee a daughter of the late Jim Eldridge and Bessie Anne Brooks Eldridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny L. Holdren. Carole professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Quaker Baptist Church. She was a legendary school teacher with the Bedford County Public School for 30+ years. She was a mother, mentor, educator and friend to many. She had a passion for English literature, which shone through her wit and engaging personality. Carole was able to reference her favorite authors at a moment's notice. She was loving and kind towards all and was an avid sports fan, namely the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Tennessee Volunteers. Just a country girl from Tennessee who found and made her home in Bedford County, she is now resting peacefully with her Lord and Savior and so many loved ones. She is survived by her son, Danny L. Holdren II & daughter-n-law, Audrina Holdren; two grandchildren, Cameron and Danielle Holdren; three sisters, Jimmie D. Eldridge, Becky L. Eldridge and Maggie Wildermuth and husband, Craig; her brother, Tommy Eldridge; her cocker spaniels, Daphne Harper and Scotch Holdren; her sisters-in-law, Charlotte Arrington & husband, Donnie, Becky Holdren & husband, Steve, Sarah Holdren and Renee Holdren as well as many nieces and nephews. Due to COVID-19 concerns, a memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
