Obituary of Joseph Reese Tuck, Jr.

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Reese Tuck, Jr. “Rookie”, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on January 14, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Richmond, VA on February 20, 1952 to the late Mary Catherine Clay Tuck and Joseph Reese Tuck, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a sister, Mary Jo Hogge. He worked at Ronnie’s Shell gas station in Richmond during high school, prior to joining the United States Air Force from 1972-1976, and working at the USAF Radar Station in Bedford. He trained in many areas while serving. After his honorable discharge, he decided he loved the area, and began his nine years in driving for Eastern Motor Transport before acquiring a position at Southern Facilities Products terminal (Magellan Terminal Holdings, L.P.) in Montvale. He worked at the terminal for 31 years, retiring in 2015 as a dedicated supervisor. In his younger years, Joe enjoyed spending time riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a true NASCAR fan and liked watching races. He also loved working in the yard and relaxing on his front porch. Neighbors would regularly see him out on his lawn mower or waving as they drove by. He loved family movie nights as well. For most who knew Joe, they will attest that he had a big heart of gold and was willing to help others. He had a way with his sense of humor to cause us to laugh each day. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 40 years, Deborah Ann Walker Tuck; son, Joseph Walker Tuck and wife Jenny; daughter, Jennifer Marie Tuck; step-grandchildren, Ambrielle and Jaden Wood; sisters, Linda Tuck-Jenkins and husband, Chris; Cathy Westcott and husband David; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Hogge. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. The family would like to thank staff of Lewis Gale Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for the care and help they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the American Cancer Society or another charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held at Updike Funeral Home Chapel in Bedford on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bob Auxier officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM prior to the service. Services are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
