Obituary of Jackie Thomas Preston

Jackie Thomas Preston, 87 of Huddleston, went home to his farm on Monday, January 18, 2021. He was born March 29, 1933 in Bedford County, a son of the late Warren and Margaret Preston. Jackie was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Faye. A lifelong farmer and community servant, Jackie was friend to many. His love for the farm and family never waivered, even during his battle with COVID-19. He was a devoted member of Mt. Horeb UM Church and loved his special family there. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters and their husbands, Jan and Woody Burnette, Dana and David St Clair, Jodie and George Smolik; four grandchildren, Lacy Burnette and his wife, Kimberly, Wade Burnette and his wife, Brandy, Cale St. Clair and his fiancée, Ellie Fielder, Leah St. Clair; a brother and sister-in-law Billy and Peggy Preston, two sisters, Brenda Woodford and Fleeta Millard. In lieu of flowers and food, the family asks that donations be made to Mt. Horeb Cemetery Fund, 6325 Smith Mountain Lake Parkway, Huddleston, VA 24104. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and family illness, there will be no visitation and all services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
