Obituary of Joe Frederick Wagner

Joe Frederick Wagner, 87, of Moneta Va., passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021. He was born November 5, 1933 in Logan WVa., the younger son of the late Joseph Opha Wagner and the late Nevada Constance “Connie” Wagner.
He attended WVU in the fall of 1951 to 1955 and remained an ardent WVU fan throughout his life. He also organized the first WVU golf tournament to benefit the university in Martinsburg. Joe was a member and later the president of Sigma Nu social fraternity during his time there. He served in the United States Army for two years, from the summer of 1955 to the summer of 1957. His MOS field was in cryptology and he served both in Korea and Japan. He returned to WVU to attend Law School from the fall of 1958 to 1960. After graduation he set up a law firm in Martinsburg WV. with Charles Kiser. Other law firms that Joe was associated with include Rice, Hannis, Rice and Wagner in Martinsburg WV., a law firm in Charleston WV., the Bailey and Wagner Law Firm in Logan and a solo practice in Logan.
He is survived by his wife Hazel S. Wagner; brother William Wallace Wagner “Wally”; sister, Karen Wagner Deason (Tom); three children, Kimberly Wagner, Sarah Golliday (Harry), Harley Wagner (Shauna); five grandchildren, Sarah Echelberger, Carly Robertson, Miller Golliday, William and Wesley Wagner. Joe is also survived by a special cousin Clinton Winter and a long list of loving relatives.
