Ellen Overstreet Ayers, 95 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the hom eof her son, Jimmy. She was born on Sunday, January 16, 1916 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late William Albert Overstreet and Mary Anna Mitlon Overstreet. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Clay Overstreet and her second husband, Russell Ayers. Surviving are her sons, William Henry Overstreet of Cranston, RI, Jimmy Lewis Overstreet of Bedford; a daughter, Laura Elizabeth Overstreet of Bedford; a brother, Melvin "Jake" Overstreet of Bedford; five grandchildren, William Lewis Overstreet, Cindy Edmondson, Kimberly Overstreet, Sharon Overstreet, William Brett Overstreet, a great-grandson, Aiden Smith. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Wilsons United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 PM until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
