Norman Richard Fowler, 78 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at his residence. He was born on Monday, June 29, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Anson Richard Fowler and Carrie Elizabeth Zeiler Fowler. He was retired from American Electric Power and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Mae Durst Fowler; his son, Todd R. Fowler & wife, Taffy; his daughter, Brenda F. Patterson & husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Chase Peters, Lindsay York & husband, Ethan, Kyle Patterson as well as his great-grandchildren, Wyatt & Amelia York and brother, Robert A. Fowler & wife, Bea. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Main Street United Methodist Church, 212 East Main Street, Bedford, VA 24523 or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends beginning from 9:30 until 10:30 on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a graveside service will follow at 11:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Emmanuel Bautista officiating. The Fowler family and Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service requests that everyone follow CDC guidelines by wearing masks and observe social distancing. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
