Junior Luther Saunders, 85 of Lynch Station, passed away Tuesday April 6, 2021 at Autumn Care of Altavista. He was born on Wednesday, January 15, 1936 in Bedford County the son of the late Jesse Saunders and Bettsie Spradlin Saunders. Junior was preceded in death by his wife Margaretha Helena Saunders and numerous siblings.
Junior was retired from the Lane Company.
He is survived by his son Walter Saunders and wife Tanya, daughters Shirley Miller and husband Dennis, Betty Harris and husband Butch, Cheryl Nichols, Brenda McGregor and husband Jeff, Carol Rowland. Junior was blessed by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Junior is survived by his brothers James Saunders and Jerry Price.
The family would like to thank Autumn Care for the care and compassion that they extended to Dad during his stay.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Updike Funeral Chapel in Huddleston with Rev. Scott Doran & Rev. Michael Finley Officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery of Lynch Station. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the service and other times at the home of son, Walter Saunders.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
