Obituary of Wallace Jean Orange

Wallace Jean Orange, 85 of Thaxton, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at his residence. He was born on Thursday, November 14, 1935 in Bedford County, a son of the late Willard Orange and Juliet Orange Orange. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Jerry Orange and Ricky Orange and his sister, Dorothy Carwile. He was a retired construction superintendent and farmer and was a member of Montvale Presbyterian Church and attended Epworth United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Annie Overstreet Orange; his devoted daughter, Sharon Zimmerman (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Rodney Orange (Brandy), Teresa Harris (Terry); sisters, Nelle Matters, Patti Jurkus as well as six great grandchildren. The family requests those wishing to make memorials consider a donation to Bedford County Animal Shelter, 1307 Falling Creek Road, Bedford, VA 24523. A special thanks to Centra Bedford Hospice and especially Samantha Abbott Browley for her loving care. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the chapel with Rev. June Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
