Obituary of Anne Burley Creasey

Anne Burley Creasey, 94 of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Heritage Green Assisted Living in Lynchburg. She was born on Friday, May 13, 1927 in Amherst County, VA., a daughter of the late Howard T. Burley and Viola S. Burley. She was the loving wife of the late J. Rucker Creasey, Sr. for 55 years. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and seven brothers. She retired as Plant Manager at Lind-Clare of Virginia after 36 years of service. She was a life long member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. She loved her church and church family. She loved sewing and was an excellent seamstress, cooking for her family and friends and vegetable gardening. She is survived by her son, James Rucker Creasey, Jr. and wife, Shirley Joy Creasey of Forest; two grandsons, Kevin Creasy of Lynchburg, Jeremy Creasey and wife Elizabeth of Richmond; two great-grandchildren, Nelson Rucker Creasey and Lillian Joy Creasey of Richmond and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church on Joppa Mill Road, Bedford on August 12th at 11 am with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn at the service. Friends may visit between the hours of 9 AM to 5 PM on Tuesday, August 10 and Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to HumanKind, 150 Linden Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503 (online at humankind.org) or Mt. Olivet Cemetery Fund, c/o Lula D.
