Evelyn Anderson Waldron Bowyer, 99 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Carriage Hill Retirement Home. She was born on Tuesday, May 2, 1911 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Robert Melvin Anderson and Octavia Virginia Overstreet Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Holbert Waldron & James Bowyer; three brothers, Raymond, Tommy &, James Anderson and four sisters, Lala Lindsey, Bertha Nester, Mary Scruggs & Katie Martin. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church. Surviving are her sons, Elton ( Haney) Waldron of Bedford, Jimmy Lee Waldron of Thaxton; three grandchildren, Betty Jean Burford, Tammy Small, Roger Lee Waldron and three great-grandchildren, Jessie Burford, James & Timmy Rowlett; a sister, Mable Jones of Thaxton. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Bapiist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 PM until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
