Billy Samuel Dooley, 84 of Thaxton, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at his residence. He was born on Monday, May 24, 1937 in Bedford County, a son of the late Glen Lester Dooley and Viola Samuel Heck Dooley.
He was retired from the City of Salem Electric Department and was a member of New Beginnings Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Edwards Dooley; his daughters, Cynthia D. Kanode, Tina D. Bowyer & husband, Butch; his granddaughters, Jacqueline Bowyer Goff, April K. Wolfe & husband, Jeremiah; his grandsons, Jason Bowyer & wife, Audrey, Kody Kanode & wife, Lizzie; his great-grandchildren, Olivia & Joel Wolfe, Brice & Chloe Goff, Emily & Ella Bowyer, Gideon Kanode; his brother, Harold Dooley; his brothers-in-law, Marvin Edwards & wife, Martha, Clayton Edwards & wife, LuAnne; his sister-in-law, Terry Edwards; his fur babies, Blackie & Gray Boy as well as special friends, Bobby Hall & Shorty Meadow.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Richard Kingrea & Pastor Earl Ragland officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
