Obituary of Janice Tuck Laughon

Janice Tuck Laughon, 84 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021. She was born on Friday, December 25, 1936 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Allen Jeter Tuck and Mary Brown Tuck. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Thomas Laughon as well as siblings, Marshall A. Tuck and J. D. Tuck. Janice enjoyed gardening and landscaping and was famous for many dishes including her sugar cookies, Red Velvet Cake and Peach Cobbler just to name a few. She fed many hungry VMI Keydets at tailgates while Mark and Mike were in school there. She loved hosting family and friends and loved holidays, however she carried the Christmas spirit year round. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church but after retiring from her job with the Commissioner of the Revenue's office, she moved back to Moneta and joined Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sister, Linda Creasey & her husband, Bill; son, Mark Laughon & wife, Melinda; daughter-in-law, Mary Frances (Tance) Laughon; her grandchildren, Ashley, Holmes & Tyler and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Alzheimer's Association, 3831 Old Forest Road, Suite 7, Lynchburg, VA 24504. A Celebration of her life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Ronald Toms officiating. Interment will follow in Tuck Family Cemetery in Moneta. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 PM on Wednesday, November 3 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
