Obituary of Austyn Dakota Smith

Our beloved son Austyn Dakota Smith, 30 of Roanoke gained his Angel's wings on Sunday October 31, 2021. He was a son of Stanley Price Smith and Wanda Martin Smith. He is preceded in death by his great grandparents, Henry and Lorraine McGhee and Edison and Mary Anna Updike and his uncles, David Wayne Smith and Thomas (Tommy) Terrill Martin, Jr. Austyn was born in Roanoke on April 23, 1990. He was a 2008 graduate of Staunton River High School and a member of Morgan's Baptist Church. He loved everyone and would do his best to help anyone in need. He had one of the biggest hearts. He would talk to anyone about his love for music, skateboarding, football, and especially Duke basketball. He was a big fan of the Dallas cowboys and the Georgia bulldogs. He was formerly employed by B Dubs, Wallers, and Advance Auto until his seizures became too bad. In addition to his father and mother, he is survived by his grandfather, H. Wayne (MaryClay) Smith; grandmother, Cora Updike Martin Schwamm; sisters, Amanda (Ray) Miles of Mayodan, NC, Sierra (Dana) Brandt of Providence, RI, Kasey(Nick) Robertson of Vinton, VA, and Devon Smith of Roanoke, VA; his little brother, Mychael(Leslie) Smith of Charleston SC; his nieces, Jackie (Brandon) Settles, Sara Goyne, Korrina Kish, a nephew, Jaxon Kish, and a niece to arrive around his birthday next year. He will be missed by his fur buddy, Mugsy. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Jack Richards and Pastor Chris Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Leftwich Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Friday, November 5 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
