Ruth Ashwell Overstreet, 85 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Saturday, May 31, 1924 in Bedford Co., VA, a daughter of the late Frank Leslie Ashwell and Lula Ann McBride Ashwell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Guy Overstreet whom she walks hand in hand together with in heaven now. Surviving are her daughters, Shelby O. Mitchell & husband, Danny; Diane Ruth Overstreet, all of Huddleston; three granddaughters, Deena Mustard & husband, Neil; Kerry Dolph & husband, Shawn; Kelly Cederberg & husband, Troy; two great grandsons, Gabriel & Riley Mustard; two sisters, Ethel Bennett, Norma West, both of Huddleston; a brother, Boyce Ashwell of Huddleston. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Patmos United Methodist Church Cemetery on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, March 29 from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at the residence, 4037 Headens Bridge Road and from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
