Arnold Gray Hackworth, Sr., 88 of Evington, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Brookneal. He was born on Monday, March 6, 1933 in Bedford County, a son of the late Roy Thomas Hackworth and Margaret Roberts Hackworth. He was also preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Ethel Gowen Hackworth; a daughter, Shelby Jean Bond, brothers, Allen & Marcus Hackworth, a daughter-in-law, Judy Newby, a granddaughter and a great grandchild.
He is survived by his sons, Ronnie G. Hackworth, Arnold G. Hackworth, Jr. (Debra); his daughters, Brenda H. Thurman, Sandra H. Clark (Chester), Linda H. Karl (Doug, Sr.); his brother, Billy T. Hackworth as well as 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and family members.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Altavista Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Critchley officiating. There is no visitation.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
