Obituary of Linda Croft Hubbard

Linda Fae Croft Hubbard, 74, of Bedford, passed away Sunday morning, November 28, 2021. Linda was born May 16, 1947 in Bedford County, youngest child and daughter of the late Jake Edward Croft and Ida Judson James Croft, growing up on the northside of Bedford under the shadows of the Peaks of Otter. She was among the first class of students to graduate from Liberty High School in 1965. She married her husband of 52 years, Boyd, on May 3, 1969. Together, they raised four children, Jeffrey, Heather, Heidi, and Jonathan. Linda was a life-long Baptist as well as a long-time employee of the Bedford County Treasurer’s Office and, more recently, Hubbard Law Firm. She was an excellent cook and loved to host large family gatherings. She lovingly spent most of her golden years doting over her ten grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Maxine C. Sanderson and four brothers, E. Jeryl Croft, Ralph L. Croft, Curtis V. Croft, and Jake C. Croft. Linda is survived by her husband, Boyd W. Hubbard; her four children, Jeffery B. Hubbard and his wife Laura of Bedford, Heather Hubbard Massey of Bedford, Heidi Hubbard Shenton and her husband, Michael of Moseley, Virginia, and Jonathan S. Hubbard and his wife Ann of Richmond; three brothers, Kermitt D. Croft, Kenneth Mahlon Croft, and Fred W. Croft all of Bedford; five grandsons, Judson, Nicholas, Joshua, Taylor, and Henry; and five granddaughters, Sarah, Samantha, Hannah, Margaret Claiborne, and Catherine. Visitation will be held at Updike Funeral Home on Friday, December 17, 2021, between 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Quaker Baptist Church in Bedford County or your favorite charity in Linda’s name.
