Kenneth David Maxfield, 49 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on Friday, May 19, 1961 in Bedford County, a son of the late Monroe Maxfield and Nettie King Maxfield. He was an employee of Brooks Food Group and and was a member of Thaxton Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Betty Jo Arthur Maxfield; two sons, Kenneth D. Maxfield, Jr., & wife, Sarah of Bedford, Benjamin J. Maxfield & wife, Tiffany of Springfield; three grandchildren, Hannah Grace Maxfield, Kaylee Faith Maxfield, Aaden Joseph Maxfield; five brothers, Emory King, James Maxfield, both of Roanoke, Tony Maxfield, Johnny Maxfield, both of Bedford, Leonard Maxfield of Callaway, four sisters, Geraldine Boitnott of Bloomington, IL, Nancy Hubbard, Betty Ruff, both of Bedford, Garnetta Witt of Thaxton. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Thaxton Baptist Church Bulding Fund, 1067 Penicks Mill Road, Thaxton, VA 24174 . Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 11:00 am at Thaxton Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Eldridge Cullum & Pastor Steve Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 5 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
