Harold Turner SR Obituary
Harold Wilbur Turner, Sr., 79 of Falls Church, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, November 28, 1931 in Franklin Co., a son of the late Melvin Turner and Sally Blankenship Turner. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Aubry Turner. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served in the 140th Tank Battalion during the Korean Conflict, and during that time he received numerous awards and medals including two bronze stars. He was also retired from the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Nichols Turner; a son, Harold W. Turner, Jr. of Falls Church; a daughter, Bridget K. Rabel & husband, Blake of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Tori & Kayla Rabel; a brother, Boyd Turner & wife, Lera Lee of Moneta, three sisters, Louise Jones & husband, Ford of Moneta, Ercell Law, Cherold Thurman & husband, Joe all of Rocky Mount. Funeral Services will be held at the graveside at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 1 PM with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
