Betty Jean Tolley Patterson formerly of Bedford, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late David Rucker Patterson who together owned and operated Bryant’s Grocery for twenty-two years. She has resided at Liberty Ridge Runk & Pratt for many years. She had a love for her Church, Family, and Friends. Jean enjoyed many evenings playing bingo and dominos with her friends at Runk & Pratt. She loved knitting, crossword puzzles, jeopardy, and her visits from Family and Friends. After retirement she looked forward to helping residents of Bedford County Nursing Home and volunteering at the Bedford Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. Born in Lynchburg, Va., on April 30, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Grace Inge Tolley and Everett Leslie Tolley, also predeceased her sister Joyce Tolley King. She was a member of the Bedford Christian Church. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Bedford Christian Church, 1928 Moneta Road, Bedford VA 24523. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11 AM at Bedford Christian Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM on Saturday at Bedford Christian Church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bedford.
