Madeline Lacy Overstreet, 88 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Saturday, September 23, 1922 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Reeves M. Lacy and Myrtle Swain Lacy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William Overstreet. She was a retired employee of Rubatex Corporation and was a member of Nicopolis United Methodist Church . Surviving are her sons, Donald Joseph Overstreet & wife, Cathie, Kenneth B. Overstreet, Sr. & wife, Sherry, all of Bedford, five grandchildren, Kenneth Overstreet, Jr. & wife, Amy, Lisa Thornhill & husband, Jack, Joseph D. Overstreet, Rebecca L. Overstreet, Sarah D. Overstreet; three great-grandchildren, Matthew J. Overstreet, Hunter Overstreet, MacKenzie Overstreet; three sisters, Frances Rardin, Mary Overstreet, both of Bedford, Edith King of FL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Nicopolis U. M. Church with Rev. Mike Casey and Rev. Bill Burleigh officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
