On this day, Sunday, May 15, 2022, James Dennis Byrd, 82 of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord. He was born on Saturday, December 30, 1939 in Boones Mills, a son of the late Arthur Byrd and Annabelle Pate Byrd. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Porter Byrd, his sister, Estelle Cook and brothers, Joe, Bobby and Doug Byrd.
He is survived by his only daughter, Susan Byrd Olinger and several nieces, including Rosie Brown and several nephews.
There will be no services or gathering at this time. The family requests no flowers.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
