Rachel Cox Lloyd, 56 of Lynch Station, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on Tuesday, December 21, 1954 in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late George Thomas Cox, Jr. and Ruby Anna Newman Cox Mattox. Surviving is her husband, Dewey Washington Lloyd, Jr. of Lynch Station; a son, Dewey W. Lloyd, III & wife, Patty of Huddleston; two daughters, Shannon M. Lloyd of Evington, Jeannie L. Carson & husband, Steven, Jr., of Lynch Station; six grandchildren, Sherman T. Burns, Jr., Christopher R. Dudley, Robin L. Roach, Megan R. Roach, Julie D. Roach, Adam D. Roach; three great-grandchildren, Hannah West, Eli & Noah White; six brothers & one sister. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 6:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston. The family will receive friends at the home of Jeannie & Steve Carson, 7353 Leesville Road, Lynch Station. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
